Thalassa

"Thalassa" is a concept designed for Armiriki Stories. A series of high quality screenprinted and limited t-shirts expressing Greece from our personal - biographical point of view.

"Thalassa” means Sea in greek. It surrounds Greece and through time it has formed its geography, its climate, its economy. People’s temperament and daily life are deeply connected with it. “Thalassa” uses sea analogies, comparing it to seemingly random things.

Considering the beaufort scale, the sea can be compared to things such as oil or even little sheep, used metaphorically to describe the condition of the sea, depending on the wind.

’Thalassa’ means ‘Sea’ in greek. In the greek language there are many phrases people use to describe the condition of the sea, comparing it to seemingly random things. When it is calm people compare it with oil (ladi), or when its windy with ‘Small Sheep’.
